چکیده    recent archaeological surveys and excavations of the coast of the persian gulf and the sea of oman have brought to light hundreds of potsherds dating to parthian and sasanian periods, which serve as evidence for maritime commercial transactions in the region. the recovered ceramic remains are of various types and sizes, many with bitumen coating from inside, a technique that could make them waterproof. their distinctive form is well-suited not only for being carried aboard a ship, but were suitable to transport liquid items. the current paper tries to investigate the torpedo-type jars discovered of the iranian coast and demonstrate the relationship of these finds with neighbouring cultures.
